I am one of many candidates for certification disappointed in what I experienced at Epic.
You’re driven. You’re relentless. You face difficulty and accept responsibility. You’re courageous.
And after completing completing certifications with top scores, you find that the software vendor giving you your final exam is the one who is offering your company a quarter of a million if you pass.
Will they lie? Will they say you failed and pocket the $250,000/year? Or will they make you take the exam and tell your management you failed repeatedly, allowing them to keep the $250,000 as long as they do what your software vendor says?

Relying on old Mumps technology and a pile up of strangely connected servers, how can a customer get free to choose other vendors?
Expensive enterprise systems and database engines often cost significant amounts of money.
However, wise companies like PeopleSoft and Oracle often respect the customer’s right to make choices.
For instance, PeopleSoft can run on Oracle, Sybase, Informix, SqlServer, and IBM’s DB2.
With Epic EHR, what I saw looked to me more like an unhealthy dependency on young kids fresh out of a university, overworked and scarcely experienced. As it seemed Epic would not hire older and more experienced professionals.
But if you want to go to a different consulting firm, good luck! You may be locked in.
Get ready to hire a REALLY BIG STAFF!
Don’t expect to hire a small staff to manage Epic. You may leave people wondering whether you could have spent a tiny fraction of what you spent on Epic and addressed any benefits of Epic better and for tens or hundreds of millions of dollars less.
